  • Overview

Have a close encounter with Australia’s unique animals on an Australian Wildlife Ecotour!

Australia is famous for its strange and distinctive wildlife. Having evolved in relative isolation, some of Australia’s animals exhibit rare traits that you can only find here. Where else can you dodge kangaroos on the road and pet fluffy, little koalas? Some travellers might explore Australia for its famous opera house or its interesting rock formations. But, most visitors come for the Great Barrier Reef and the Outback. And, on the Australian Wildlife Ecotour, you’ll get up-close and personal with the animals that the country is known for!

Start out from the beautiful city of Melbourne and take a scenic drive along the coast towards Maru Koala & Animal Park. This nearby attractions is home to some of Australia’s most popular furry friends. You can get right up next to kangaroos, koalas, dingoes, snakes, lizards, and other fauna indigenous to the country. You’ll even have the option to enter the enclosures and give these guys a friendly pat. Before heading over to Phillip Island, you’ll learn about what makes these animals special, their conservation status, and programs that have been put in place to make sure future generations can enjoy Australia’s unique zoological heritage.

Then, on Phillip Island, you’ll witness one of nature’s most popular daily migrations during the Penguin Parade! Every evening at sunset, it’s starts as a trickle. Those penguins that left work early to beat traffic emerge from the ocean and happily head home to spend time with family inside their burrows. But, after a while, rush hour traffic brings gridlock, minor collisions, and perhaps a little bit of road rage. Watching these little birds in their natural habitat is fun for the whole family and represents the perfect way to end the Australian Wildlife Ecotour.
