Departure from Melbourne:
You will be picked up from your hotel in Melbourne and driven to 570 Flinders Street where you will meet your guide. Once seated in your air-conditioned coach, you will depart for Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary.
Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary:
Upon your arrival at Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary, enjoy close encounters with Australian wildlife including the duck-billed platypus which is only found in the Eastern seaboard of Australia. See wallabies, wombats, koalas, kangaroos, dingoes and more than 200 native birds in a natural bushland environment and learn about their characteristics and habitats through animal shows and exhibits.
One of the major highlights of the sanctuary is the 'Spirit of the Sky' show where birds will entertain you with their flying skills.
Puffing Billy train ride:
You will re-board your coach and head for your next adventure at Belgrave. Enjoy a 30-minute ride on the Puffing Billy, one of the world’s best preserved locomotives. Take a seat in the century-old red carriages and trundle through lush Sherbrooke forests. The Puffing Billy train is still running on its original mountain track through the Dandenongs since 1900.
Ride over the old Trestle Bridge and enjoy stunning views and marvellous photo-opportunities from the open carriages. You will alight from the train at Menzies Creek and continue with the coach tour.
Penguin Parade at Phillip Island:
In the late afternoon, travel to the Phillip Island visiting picturesque coastal scenery of The Nobbies.
Continue to Summerland Beach for the highlight of the day - the internationally renowned Penguin Parade. Phillip Island boasts one of Australia’s largest colonies of Little Penguins. Each night, these delightful birds – the world’s smallest penguins – toddle ashore to the safety of their burrows in the dunes after their daily fishing expedition. This penguin homecoming is one of nature’s most enchanting spectacles.
You may upgrade your tour to the exclusive Penguin Plus experience. This includes priority seating at the Penguin Parade as well as access to the “Penguins Plus” boardwalk. With Penguins Plus seating you are placed in a high penguin traffic area, close to the ground, and will enjoy a more intimate experience than from the main viewing platforms. It also gives you a complimentary hot drink and a souvenir gift.
After the parade, you will return to your accommodation in Melbourne.
